The 7-speed DRY dual-clutch judders and shudders pulling away, hesitates between 1st and 2nd and can overheat in stop-start traffic, because a dry clutch cannot shed the heat of repeated creeping. Left to run, the clutch pack wears out and the mechatronic can follow. Kia issued a service bulletin covering exactly this judder, with the remedy being replacement of the dual clutch assembly plus a transmission control unit software upgrade - so a judder is a documented defect, not a quirk to live with. The printed circuit board (PCB) in the Hydraulic Clutch Actuator (HCA) may become contaminated with fluid. A fluid contaminated PCB may lead to an electrical short circuit which in extreme cases may potentially result in a fire in the engine compartment while driving.
Put right by: Check vehicle for Diagnostic Trouble Codes if HCA related codes are found replace the HCA its connector and reduced amperage fuse modifying the fuse board to suit. If no related DTC are recorded fit reduced amperage fuse only modifying the fuse board to suit.
